چکیده

We consider the setting of component-based design for realtime systems with critical timing constraints. Based on our earlier work, we propose a compositional specification theory for timed automata with I/O distinction, which supports substitutive refinement. Our theory provides the operations of parallel composition for composing components at run-time, logical conjunction/disjunction for independent development, and quotient for incremental synthesis. The key novelty of our timed theory lies in a weakest congruence preserving safety as well as bounded liveness properties. We show that the congruence can be characterised by two linear-time semantics, timed-traces and timed-strategies, the latter of which is derived from a game-based interpretation of timed interaction.

Robust Specification of Real Time Components

Specification theories for real-time systems allow to reason about interfaces and their implementation models, using a set of operators that includes satisfaction, refinement, logical and parallel composition. To make such theories applicable throughout the entire design process from an abstract specification to an implementation, we need to be able to reason about possibility to effectively im...

Fischer’s Protocol in Timed Process Algebra

Timed algebraic process theories can be developed with quite different purposes in mind. One can aim for theoretical results about the theory itself (completeness, expressiveness, decidability), or one can aim for practical applicability to non-trivial protocols. Unfortunately, these aims do not go well together. In this paper we take two theories, which are probably of the first kind, and try ...

Revisiting Digitization, Robustness, and Decidability for Timed Automata

We consider several questions related to the use of digitization techniques for timed automata. These very successful techniques reduce dense-time language inclusion problems to discrete time, but are applicable only when the implementation is closed under digitization and the specification is closed under inverse digitization. We show that, for timed automata, the former (whether the implement...
